25 Days of Christmas – December 24

Luke 2:39-40

And when they had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.

Sweet Little Jesus Boy

Sweet little Jesus boy,
They made you be born in a manger
Sweet little Holy child,
We didn’t know who You were

Didn’t know You’d come to save us, Lord
To take our sins away
Our eyes were blind we could not see
We didn’t know who You were

You have told us how
We are trying
Master, You have shown us how
Even when You were dying
Just seems like we can’t do right
Look how we treated You
But please, Sir, forgive us, Lord
We didn’t know it was You

Sweet little Jesus boy,
Born long ago,
Sweet little Holy Child
We didn’t know who You were.

Now that your Nativity is completely finished, and you have read through the entire birth story, you can act out the events. Stress to your kids that this is not just a story, it is history: True events that really happened.

There are at least two ways to do this – more if you come up with your own creative ways – but you can act out the Christmas story yourselves, or you can act it out with the pieces you created for your nativity.

Start with right before the birth, or start sooner in the story if you’d like. Have your kids play different parts.

If you are acting it out yourselves, you can use props and homemade costumes if you want. Tired Mom Hack: Or make little signs of the name of each character that they can hold while they are playing that character.

Join in with your kids. Everyone will enjoy acting out the story, but it will also make a memory and help them remember the events in the Bible. And it might make it more real to them in the process.
